PROGRAM:  Destiny Hebert, DPT of Benchmark Physical Therapy / Pro Therapy is the Clinical Director for the Dawsonville, GA clinic. Destiny has treated triathletes, runners and CrossFitters in our area for many years. She specializes in treating plantar fascists using A Stem technique which is the BEST way to rid yourself of nagging injuries.

Thank you Lanier Running Club members, for your very generous donations to our adopted family at Christmas. Sorry that this notice is so late but would like to share some of the highlights of where the donations went,

With over $600.00 in cash and gift cards, plus gifts, we were able to provide each of the 4 kids with almost everything on their lists; spending approximately $100.00 each. We got the 3 year old boy a bike, toys and a couple outfits. each of the 3 girls received an outfit and highlights from their lists. The parents had gift cards for either groceries or more gifts plus money that could be used for car repairs. The church was made aware that they requested car repairs and there is someone at the church that owns a shop that could help.

Attached is a picture of all the wrapped gifts. I hope this family had a wonderful Christmas thanks to our little running club.

Again, thank you for your donations and your participation in blessing others. I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year,





LRC Runners Excel at USATF National Cross Country Meets

USATF Junior Olympics Cross Country Nationals – December 8, 2012 - Albuquerque, NM

Jake Shewbert placed 16th of 254 runners in the Youth Boys 4K – Time 13:40.22, Pace 5:30


USATF Club Cross Country Nationals - December 8, 2012 - Lexington, KY

Three LRC runners represented the Atlanta Track Club in the Men’s 10K.

Wes Wessely placed 14th in the 60-64 age group with a time of 45:14. Team placed 8th.

Charley Patterson placed 1st in the 70-74 age group with a time of 50:28. Team placed 1st.

David Turner placed 9th in the 70-74 age group with a time of 55:48. Team placed 1st.



The Dixie200 Relay - March 22-23, 2013

The Lanier Running Club is now forming teams to compete in the 2013 Dixie200 Relay. If you are interested in competing, contact Coach Art DaCosta (770-5961904) daco5029@bellsouth.net.

Early Bird Registration expires on December 21, 2012. Please let Art know ASAP if you think you might like to participate.

The Dixie200 Relay is a unique, overnight relay adventure in which you and 11 friends run 200 scenic miles from Atlanta to Birmingham. The Dixie200 Relay begins just outside of Atlanta and runs on theSilver Comet and Chief Ladiga trails. This scenic course will take you through fields, forests, and rolling hills as you finish outside of Birmingham at Oak Mountain State Park.

The Dixie200 Relay will be held March 22-23, 2013. Beginning near Atlanta, the first flight of teams will start the 200 mile relay around 6:00 am on Friday morning March 22. Over the next several hours, additional sets of teams will depart on their overnight journey. Teams will begin arriving at Oak Mountain State Park around noon on Saturday to conclude their Dixie200 Relay experience.

Teams for the Dixie200 Relay are generally made up of 4 to 12 people who split 36 legs. For instance, each person of a 12 person relay team will run three legs over distances varying from 3 – 10 miles. Each team will provide support vans to drop off and pick up runners at designated exchange zones along the 200 mile route.

Two teams of Lanier Running Club members competed in the Atlanta Ekiden Team Relay on September 9, 2012.

The Lanier Amigos finished the 27K race with a time of 1:42:15 They finished 4th in the Men's Open Division and 4th overall in the race. Team members are Diego Sanchez, Martin Sanchez, Jose Reyes-Lavallee and Juan Soto.

The Lanier Divas finished with a time of 2:31:18. The finished 5th on the Women's Master Division. Team Members are Angel Baer, Sherry Kemp, Shari Lunsford, Kathy Carnahan and Nicola Murgatroyd.

The mission of the Lanier Running Club is to promote the benefits and enjoyment of running in our community.

We meet at 7:00 PM on the second Monday of each month at Recess Southern Gastro Pub, 118 Bradford Street NW, Gainesville, GA.
