Ty Wins In Reno!!!!

On Saturday, December 12th, after a one-hour delay and with 17 inches of snow on the ground, the USATF Region 3 Young Men's Champion Ty (Raymond) McCormack covered the 5 kilometer course in 16:07 to take the Gold Medal at the 2009 USATF Junior Olympics National Cross Country Championships in Reno, NV.  This was a fitting end to an outstanding high school cross country season in which McCormack, a Senior at North Hall High School, led the Trojan cross country team to Hall County and Region Championship titles and a 4th place finish at the Georgia High School Cross Country Championships.  McCormack finished 13th in the 2009 Foot Locker South Regional Cross Country Championships in a personal best of 15:05.  This is McCormack's second cross country season competing for the Lanier Running Club, and he led Lanier's Young Men's Team to a USATF Region 3 Junior Olympic title in Spartanburg, SC earlier this year with his first place finish.
