PROGRAM:   Melanie is an AdvoCare Advisor. She will be sharing some info with them regarding fueling during events and prepping for the heat that's already upon us. She will share what makes AdvoCare different and how it can help them have a competitive advantage.

Dixie200 Team Members will meet prior to the regular meeting at 6:30. They will discuss preparations for the upcoming race.

Lanier Running Club Team to run in the Dixie200 Relay
 
 

Race Description:

The Dixie200 Relay will be held May 18-19, 2012. Beginning near Atlanta, the first flight of teams will start the 200 mile relay around 6:00 am on Friday morning May 18. Over the next several hours, additional sets of teams will depart on their overnight journey. Teams will begin arriving at Oak Mountain State Park around noon on Saturday to conclude their Dixie200 Relay experience.

Teams for the Dixie200 Relay are generally made up of 4 to 12 people who split 36 legs. For instance, each person of a 12 person relay team will run three legs over distances varying from 3 – 10 miles. Each team will provide support vans to drop off and pick up runners at designated exchange zones along the 200 mile route.

Course:

The Dixie200 Relay is a 200-mile race that begins just west of Atlanta on the Silver Comet Trail and finishes at Oak Mountain State Park in Birmingham, Alabama.

USATF Junior Olympics Competition Team

 

Track & Field 2012

 

            The Lanier Running Club (LRC) is an approved USA Track & Field (USATF) competitive club that provides coaching and training for anyone ages 7-18 interested in competing in USATF Junior Olympic Track & Field competition.  USATF Junior Olympics provide an excellent opportunity for runners to compete after their regular school season on a team with other North Georgia athletes in their age division.

Youth Age Divisions

Youth competitions typically take place in two-year age divisions. These age divisions provide young athletes the

opportunity to compete with other athletes of similar ability. The age divisions for competition year 2012 are as follows:

Lanier Running Club - Youth Individual Rate                $10.00 (1 year membership)

USA Track & Field – Youth Individual                            $20.00(1 year membership)

Fall Program Fees (meet registrations, awards, etc.)    $60.00

The mission of the Lanier Running Club is to promote the benefits and enjoyment of running in our community.

We meet at 7:00 PM on the first Monday of each month at Johnny's New York Pizza,104 Carrington Park Drive (1/2 mile west of McEver on Dawsonville Highway), Gainesville, GA.  

At the November 2008 Lanier Running Club meeting, the membership voted to join USATF as a Competitive Club. USA Track & Field is the National Governing Body for the Sport of Track & Field, Long Distance Running and Race Walking in the United States. The mission of USATF is "To provide vision and leadership to the sport of track and field in the United States, and to promote the pursuit of excellence from youth to masters, from grass roots to the Olympic Games." For more information about USATF go to www.usatfga.org.

Sanctioned USATF Georgia Association events include: Masters Track & Field Championships; Open Track & Field Championships; Masters 10K, 8K, & 1 mile Championships; Junior Olympics (youth) Outdoor Track & Field Championships; Open 15K, 10 mile and Half Marathon Championships; Masters Open & Masters Cross Country Championships and Junior Olympics Cross Country Championships. As a Competitive Club, we will be able to enter teams in any of these events.
