WHERE: Recess, 118 Bradford Street NW, Gainesville, GA
SPEAKER: Byron Kramer, Head Coach, Track and Field at Brenau University
PROGRAM: Byron grew up in Rapids, Michigan and attended Ferris State University where he participated in cross country, basketball and track & field. He coached high school track and competed until he was 29. He left coaching and competing for a few years and began competing again in track and field and road races at the age of 44. At 48 he ran a 2:11 800 meters and placed 8th nationally with a 4:35 1500 meters. He returned to coaching that same year working primarily with youth track and with multi event athletes.
Since 2004 he has owned Real Fitness Trainers, a personal training facility in Norcross. He began college and high school coaching in 2012 working with Oglethorpe University and Norcross High School.
He began competing in outdoor pentathlon at age 55 and had the 5th highest score in the US for his age group. He learned to pole vault at age 57 and still loves to compete. He cycles and runs and will do his first power lifting contest this summer.
In the summer of 2015 he was hired to succeed his good friend Rick Ludwig at Brenau University. He hopes to continue there until he is 90 because helping athletes get an excellent university education and go on to great things will never feel like work to him.
RECOGNITION: We will also recognize 5 youth program participants that are graduating from High School this year.

2015 Spring Chicken Festival Results
Mother Nature smiled on the 2015 Spring Chicken Festival 5K on Saturday, April 25, 2015. It rained all night prior to the race and it was raining as the runners approached the start line. As Coach Wes stepped into the street to give pre-race instructions, the rain stopped and the race was on. Sixteen year old Wesley Nicholson was the Overall Male winner with a time of 19:36. Prior race winner Amy Bartholomew was the Overall Female winner with a time of 21:57. Thanks to all of the runners and volunteers that came out in extremely threatening weather to help make the race a success. After the awards ceremony, everyone walked around the corner to the Chicken Cook-off and ate chicken to their hearts content.

Our gifts for our sponsored family. Even tho the December meeting was small, we had big hearts and gave generously. We bought the kids winter coats, clothing and each a toy. I hope they enjoy their Christmas, thanks to you.
